Our Commitment

The Riverfront Theatre Company is a professional non-profit theater company with a strong emphasis on Education and Community Outreach.  Our purpose is to bridge the perceived gap between local community and professional theater in the Greater Rockford Area.  To that end, we pledge the following: 
 

To Produce Excellent Theater
  • We will constantly strive to produce shows with the highest professional standards. To this end, we will have a Board-level Quality Control committee.
     
  • We will create a balanced staff of Equity Professionals, non-Equity Professionals, Community Volunteers, and Students in all areas of production.
     
  • We will produce challenging dramatic works to enlighten and educate our audiences.
     
  • We will train local students and community volunteers in the craft and demands of theater, both onstage and off.
 

To Educate Our Youth
  • We will offer workshops to local schools to instill an early interest in theater through the use of Creative Dramatics, Improvisation, and Theater Games.
     
  • We will co-ordinate with other local youth training organizations to enhance and expand their own programming.
     
  • We will offer internships and apprenticeships to local high school and college students to refine the skills of those who exhibit advanced interest and abilities in theater.
 

To Develop The Arts Community
  • We will actively seek common projects and co-productions with other local arts organizations.
     
  • We will seek a permanent venue, and will work with other performance groups to offer a variety of events during dark periods.
     
  • We will cross-promote other arts organizations and events occurring outside of our venue.
     
  • We will develop a liaison with the Rockford Area Arts Council and work closely to promote arts in the Greater Rockford Area.
     
  • We will actively recruit young professionals as interns, guest artists, and company members into the Rockford area to invigorate and expand the local talent base.
 

To Sustain Our Efforts
  • We will pledge to operate in a fiscally responsible manner.
     
  • We will set aside 10% of all non-allocated donations in an endowment fund
    to maintain our financial health.
     
  • We will develop a special Board of Benefactors which will be responsible for fund-raising activities, investments, and philanthropic liaison.
     
  • We are currently applying for 501(c)(3)  Federal non-profit status
