LEAVING IOWA
by Tim Clue & Spike Manton
(Comedy/Drama)
Leaving Iowa is a worthy nostalgic ode to the good-hearted, patriotic average American small town father bent on getting his daughter and son to
enjoy the yearly road trip in their station wagon. The story revolves around a journalist who returns home to Winterset, Iowa to find a ‘final
resting place’ for his father’s ashes. This memory play is the son’s attempt to finally realize the depth of love his father had for him.
Told in flashback, Leaving Iowa is a sentimental comedy that speaks to everyone who ever had to endure the family car vacation to some vague
and uninteresting historical sight with a well-meaning but naive father. The play has much to like including several funny vacation adventures that
remind one of Mayberry in the Andy Griffin Show.

and trying to balance it all. From pretending you understand what the IT guy is saying ("The IT Cowboy") to your second job as a gift
wrap salesperson ("Who Will Buy This Crap For My Kid's School") to trying to figure out exactly what the one guy does all day ("The Great Pretender"),
The Water Coolers will make you howl at the things we all face just making it through the week.

MOONLIGHT & MAGNOLIAS
by Ron Hutchinson
(Comedy)
A smart and extremely funny Off-Broadway comedy about the greatest film almost never made. Compulsive, near-psychotic producer
David O. Selznick, determined to make Gone With the Wind the greatest film in history, scraps the production already in progress,
and brings in screenwriter Ben Hecht to write a new script in 5 days. Problem – Ben has never read the book. Pulling
Munchkin-hating director Victor Fleming off of The Wizard of Oz, Selznick locks the door, closes the blinds, and holds the men as
captives, while acting out scenes of the book with Fleming, feeding the men only peanuts and bananas the entire time.
With smart dialogue that also touches on issues of race, ethnicity, and the battle between art and commerce, Moonlight and
Magnolias will be enjoyed and appreciated by even those who have less familiarity with the film.
